Apprenticeship or University? An Infographic of Students’ Responses

For today’s generation, going to university is no longer as easy a choice as it once was. Tuition fees and university living costs are getting higher and higher, while the UK government is incentivizing companies to develop apprenticeship schemes, which get young people into work faster.
So we decided to ask you, an audience of students and graduates, how you feel the two compare, and which route you would have chosen now with the benefit of hindsight.
All the results from the survey are shown in the infographic below. Here are some of the key findings:
62% of you would do an apprenticeship rather than go to university, if you were making the decision now
The main reasons cited for choosing an apprenticeship are to start a career earlier, and to get more practical work experience. For university, the main incentives are intellectual curiosity and social life.
More of you believe employers prefer to hire graduates over apprentices
Two-thirds of you believe there should be no age restriction on apprenticeships in the UK
